Lunch Club provides affiliates of the Stanford Archaeology Center with a community-oriented forum for engagement with current issues in archaeology. On May 27, 2026, we will host Dr.Katrinka Reinhart from Stanford Heritage Services.
Abstract:
This talk reflects on the recent field season of Archaeological Field Methods: Excavating Campus Histories, a course centered on excavation at Frenchman's Lake, a historically rich, multi-layered site on campus. I will provide historical context, highlight discoveries and material culture recovered during the season, and share examples of student research, community engagement, and reflections on excavating a site where they, as Stanford students, are themselves stakeholders.
