$900
One bedroom in a 2-bedroom/1-bathroom apartment will be available on November 1. The apartment is shared with an older woman who has historically rented out the spare bedroom to Stanford grad. students and postdocs.
Details about the room
-Large, furnished bedroom that comes with a bed, couch, desk, multiple shelves, and lamps (all as needed).
-Large walk-in closet with a dresser.
-Internal air conditioner/heater within the room that is independent of the rest of the apartment.
Details about the apartment
-Overall a standard, medium sized apartment with a shared living room, kitchen, and bathroom.
-Located in an apartment complex right off of Central Expressway in Mountain View. It’s about a 20 minute walk to either the Mountain View or San Antonio Caltrain stations.
-No assigned parking, but the area has plenty of street parking and there has never been an issue finding a spot right in front of the complex.
-Within 5 minutes of multiple Safeway stores, short drive/walk to downtown Mountain View.
-The woman who rents the apartment has a cat.
Details about the rental
-$900/month. Preference will be given to someone that can stay longer term (ideally, at least a year).
-Internet/WiFi and TV subscription included.
-Utilities are usually paid by the woman who rents out the room, but she may ask for some amount to be chipped in when utilities are more expensive in the winter.
-She will also typically buy/provide common apartment consumables (cleaning products, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, etc.).
-Professional cleaners tidy up the apartment every 2-3 weeks (this is also paid for by the woman renting the apartment).
-Coin-operated washer and dryer in the apartment complex.
Details about the roommate
-She is an older woman who is retired and spends a decent amount of time baking, cooking, and reading. She is very generous about this and will almost always share whatever it is she makes.
-In general, she keeps to herself but is interested in getting to know the people that live with her.
-Although there aren’t official rules in regards to apartment chores and responsibilities, there are some things that seem to work out nicely. For example, she will typically clean dishes if you are willing to put them away when they are dry (I think this is a great deal). And of course, there is an expectation that you clean up after yourself in a reasonable, thoughtful way. Overall, as long as things are communicated properly, there shouldn’t be any issues in regards to this.
If you are interested, please reach out and provide some information about yourself (occupation, current situation, etc). Also, if you have any questions about the apartment or living situation, please let me know and I’ll be happy to answer.
