1br in a 4br house - $1380 / month

A housemate is leaving our great Palo Alto House just 2 blocks from Stanford. The neighborhood is called College Terrace and is quiet, close to Caltrain, Trader Joes, Stanford, restaurants, coffeeshops and the highway. If the ad is up, the room is still available with preference given to someone who can sign a sublease and move in on Nov 1st. I'm open to either a 2 month sublet or you taking over my spot on the lease which runs until July 1st.

There are two bedrooms upstairs with one bathroom and two bedrooms downstairs with another bathroom. You'd be in one of the bedrooms downstairs and would be sharing a bathroom with one other person. The available room has a huge sliding closet on one side and a walk in on the other.

Outside of the room, the house has hardwood floors throughout. The place includes:

-full kitchen with dishwasher
-washer and dryer in unit
-furnished living room, great for hosting
-a wonderful backyard that is fully fenced
-a garage that we use to easily store bikes or a car
-a driveway and easy street parking
-new kitchen appliances, such as a gas stove (important if you cook)
-4 bedrooms: 2 on the first floor, 2 on the second
-Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and downtown Palo Alto are just a 10 minute bike ride
-Molly stone's grocery is a 5 minute ride away
-5 minute bike ride to Caltrain
-right next to Stanford
-lots of storage space (two utility rooms and tons of closets and a garage)
-TONS of windows and great light, including a skylight in the kitchen

Currently, we are 3 postdocs and a medical student. Overall, we like to cultivate a respectful but open environment in the apartment, whereby we all do housework, loccasionally get together for coffee/meals and communicate openly (talk about house issues, let each other know if guests are coming, etc.).

Rent is $1380/month plus utilities which run about $100-$200 depending on the season, and you'll have to pay first and last month's rent upon move in, plus a deposit, which you'll get back when you leave.

College terrace is the best location I could have imagined for my time at Stanford. Campus is only 2 blocks away, the train is a 10 minute walk or 5 minute bike ride as well, and California ave is full of great restaurants and has the Sunday farmers market. There's also a grocery within walking and biking distance - closer than the train actually. I lived here without a car for the first year and it was great.
