Hi folks! We are seeking two roommates to join our warm, easy-going, and supportive light-filled and five-person home in August or September.
Our house culture is laid-back and communal, and grounded in a mutual sense of respect and responsibility for each other, each other’s space, and the house. We value direct communication and sense of community, as well as kindness and consideration in looking out for each other. A generosity of spirit as well as flexibility and openness permeates much of how we live together. We value a balance of independence and sociality, as well as sharing different perspectives as we come from different fields and interests. Thus far we’ve shared semi-regular house dinners and very much enjoy each other’s company but also value independence and are largely doing our own thing.
We are currently three female graduate students and two young professionals in our mid- to late- twenties with interests including tea (we have an impressive shared collection), hiking, vegetarian cooking, piano, guitar, travel, running, partner dancing, wine, and joking around. Two of these beloved housemates are moving to other cities, and we are looking to fill their rooms.
We’re looking for students or professionals who can fit in with the above and are looking forward to making a contribution to our homey atmosphere. We prefer our new housemates to be non-smokers, neat, clean, respectful, considerate, open-minded, and queer-friendly (as far as pets, we cannot accommodate cats due to allergies, but could maybe accommodate one extraordinarily well-behaved dog).
One of the available rooms is $1040/month (a large room in the front of the house) which will open up in September; the other is $1230/month (the master bedroom with its own private bathroom) which will open around mid-August. The house is a beautiful Eichler style home, with tons of natural light from skylights and copious windows, generous living room (with the world’s most comfortable couches and a working fireplace), great kitchen (with a gas range), 3 bathrooms, and a big backyard (complete with a hammock for lounging). The location is conveniently located (on Park Blvd near Charleston Rd) in a quiet neighborhood across the street from a park, an easy bike ride away from Stanford’s campus, and close to grocery stores and restaurants.
We will require joining a year-long joint lease (rent amounts may go up slightly since our lease renews mid-August, but our landlord is great, so probably not by much). A security deposit of $1000 is required, alongside good credit, and landlord references.
If this all sounds good, please drop us an email with some information about yourself, what you’re looking for in a living situation, and why you might want to join our house. We look forward to hearing from you.
