One of the bedrooms in our wonderful 4bd/2ba house on is available starting September 20th. The room is 9'x13', with hardwood floors, a large south-facing window looking out on the side yard, and a medium-sized closet. It would fit a queen or full bed, and a desk or large dresser. The bathroom is shared with a guy and a girl.
The common areas of the house are awesome. There's a large kitchen with a dishwasher, a gas stove, and a big island; a dining area with a fireplace; and a living room with a second fireplace and large windows that look over the front yard. We've lived here for a year, so we've furnished the common areas with important creature comforts, like armchairs, books, furniture, a fire pit, TV, grill, and loads of kitchen gadgets. The backyard is spacious and has string lights, rose bushes, deck chairs, a fire pit, and a grill; a gardener keeps the plants tidy. There's a walkway to store your bike, ample street parking, and a garage with a washer and dryer, where you can store any additional belongings.
The house is walking distance to a beautiful Philz Coffee (5m walk) and a 24-hour Safeway (13m walk). It's biking distance to the California Ave. Caltrain (8m biking), Stanford (15m biking/9m drive), Google (20m biking/9m drive), Facebook (30m biking/14m drive), and University Ave (15m biking/8m drive).
Your three housemates will be two guys and one girl, who are a Stanford PhD student and two Stanford grads, respectively.
S is a graduate student in economics. When he's not writing proofs, he enjoys landscape photography and roasting large quantities of meat.
A writes code, but feels more pull toward the humanities. He spends a little too much time thinking about patio aesthetics and accompanying cocktails.
M is working as a lab manager in a psychology lab, and deals with the stresses of helping people type in their password by baking cookies and watching every TV show in existence.
We definitely enjoy socializing with each other and having friends over for the occasional dinner party/barbecue, so it's important to us that you fit into the house well. We're a laid back group and respectful of each others' space. We like the common areas tidy, but our bedrooms span the clutter spectrum. Overnight guests are fine as long as you're respectful about it.
Rental Agreement:
*6-month rental agreement with the possibility of extending on a month to month basis
*Security deposit is equivalent to a month's rent (fully refundable on move-out)
*Utilities and internet are not included; they come to approximately $100 per person each month. The current housemates also split groceries and household items like toilet paper, etc. but this is open to your preferences.
Pets:
No pets allowed in the house, unfortunately.
