Additional information:
A prospective buyer and I took the car to a mechanic today. The mechanic said that a couple of things need to be replaced in the car along with the transmission. They are:

• CV Axle boots: $360
• Frong breaks: $320

This is in addition to changing the transmission which should cost around $1150 ($700 for the part and $450 for labor). As I said in my posting, the car still functions well, and the transmission need not be changed immediately.
