I'm selling a 2009 13" Macbook Pro (model A1278) on which I unfortunately spilled some water a few days ago. I tested the machine today and it works perfectly with the exception of the screen backlight. You can make out the image on the screen with good external lighting, but not to the extent to which it is usable. I did some research online and the most likely problem seems to be the inverter cable or the inverter board (possibly the logic board itself, but unlikely since everything else works).
Aside from the backlight, everything about the computer functions normally. It powers on and boots into OS X just fine, the battery charges, the touchpad and keyboard (including keyboard backlight) all work perfectly. I tested the optical drive and DVD playback is normal. The computer is in great cosmetic shape, having been carefully transported in a sleeve for its entire life, although there is a very faint dent on the lid. Battery life is also superb, having experienced only 63 charge cycles.
This computer is not under warranty and is sold as-is. However, you are welcome to test the computer (with my external display) in order to ensure the veracity of the above description. The machine comes with a fresh installation of OS X Snow Leopard, along with the original power adapter.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
