We have Valero just next to our apartment , Starbucks at 2 minute walk from the apartment, grocery stores and Caltrain Station are 10 mins walk from the apartment.You can even catch Stanford shuttle(Line C, Line SE, Line RP, Line X, Line O) which is 5 mins walk from the apartment with a bus frequency every 10-15 minutes throughout the day with full connectivity.
