Hello,
I'm moving out at the end of winter quarter and am trying to rent a spot in the Los Altos Hills home I've rented with three other Stanford graduate students sometime between March 15th and April 1st. The house is 10-15 minutes from campus, is located on 5 acres adjacent to walking/hiking trails, and has a hot tub. There are two spots available. One is a partitioned off from the laundry room on the bottom floor. Comes furnished with bed, desk, cabinets etc. Shared bathroom and full kitchen use, etc. The second spot, which might appeal to someone more adventurous, is a standalone cabin separated from the main house by an 100 ft walkway. This is definitely a rustic living situation as the cabin has no running water and on-demand heat is limited to an electric space heater. That being said, there are other amenities (private rooftop deck, wood stove, barbecue pit, etc.) that might appeal to someone with country sensibilities. I've been sleeping in the cabin, but hanging out in the main house while using the laundry room as a office/ staging area (place to keep my books, electronics and clean clothes). I am currently in the process of doing some maintenance on the cabin and repairing a leak in the roof (should be finished before winter quarter starts). The Cabin could stand some cosmetic improvements but we’re only asking $750/month plus an equitable share of the main house’s utilities (depending on usage). If you'd rather not mess with it and are content in the smaller space within the house (the laundry room) that's an option too. Price is negotiable (would give a discount to anyone able to put in some hours helping me work over the next two weeks). House is great, roommates are awesome, could be a sweet deal for someone willing to sacrifice a few creature comforts (or put in the man hours to obtain them) in order to save themselves a dollar.
