Somewhat of a unique post, but if anyone speaks Klingon and would be interested in having a weekly conversation group or tutoring local kids, could be a fun side gig for a linguistically skilled student!

This posting is for a student to help twin special needs girls who have geometry/ concrete math (paper strips, tessellations, origami) as a productive regulation channel. Ideal for an incoming undergrad or grad student who absolutely loves working with young children and can bring both patience and serenity. It is just as much role modeling and mentoring resilience/ regulation during adversity and team work and communication, than formal math tutoring per se. The goal would be to find 1-2 hours a week either on campus or nearby to campus to meet. Please reach out if you think you are able to help and looking for this kind of side job this quarter/ ideally year.
Special needs/ exceptional tutor with math/ geometry skills
Many high schoolers don't start writing their college application essays until the Fall of senior year. This can be a mistake. ✏️ Drafting and polishing a standout Personal Statement/main essay can take months (anywhere from 2-10 drafts), and senior Fall is already mega-busy: APs, SATs, capstone projects, etc. With all that on their plates already, it can be hard for students to do anything but an "ok" job on their dozens of application essays. 🗓️ Those students who want a fantastic Personal Statement, on the other hand, should get started now, before the school year gets hectic. ✅ If your rising Senior isn't sure where to begin (or has a draft that they'd like to take from "good" to "wow"), that's where I come in. I’m a writing tutor with 15+ years of experience teaching writing, including helping many students produce stellar college essays. 🍎 I hold a PhD in English from Stanford, where I taught PWR (the school’s writing- and research-intensive course), TAed multiple literature courses, and won a university-wide teaching prize. ⭐ I excel in helping writers of all experience levels hone their craft and boost their grades. Whether your teen needs help with just the Personal Statement or prefers ongoing support with multiple essays or schoolwork, we can find a structure that works best for your family. I conduct sessions over Zoom or in person, depending on your location. My rate is $120/hour. Please message me with any questions or to book your free, no-commitment discovery call. This is where I’ll learn more about your student's needs and answer any questions you might have.
