A furnished private bedroom for one person is available from March 15 (there is some flexibility). The room is comfortable and ideally suited for a student or scholar affiliated with the nearby Stanford campus. The monthly rent is $1450 and includes all utilities, internet, cable TV, linens, laundry, use of kitchen, and utensils. Bathroom is shared with one other person (male). The house itself is spacious and light, is recently renovated, has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, and has an outdoor patio and green area. The house has hardwood floors and includes a dishwasher, washer, dryer, sauna, and laundry in unit.

The house is in an upscale and quiet area of mid-town Palo Alto, very close to Philz Coffee and a short walking distance from a mid-town shopping center. Stanford is a 20 minute bicycle ride away (4.5 miles / 7.2 km) and there is a Caltrain station 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the house. Around the corner is a bus stop and there is plenty of parking space on the street.

The owner is a middle-aged, Eastern-European woman who is respectful, friendly and easy going. We love guests but are respectful of space and time. We have had housemates (international Stanford visiting profs and grads) for a while and enjoyed them very much. This is a family-like accommodations, and everybody is friendly, respectful and educated (not fully completed PhD is okay though! ;-)). We do not have pets.

We would prefer a long-term tenant (6 months or longer). No smokers please. Also: no heavy drinkers (social drinking is fine), no illegal drugs, and no pets.
