$1,600
Home share available in a spacious, sunny 2 BR, 1.5 BA HOUSE in Bernal Heights, starting May 1, 2018. $1600 + utilities.
This home is ideal for someone that wants to live in a spacious home with sunlight all day long, views, a well-appointed kitchen and the peace, quiet and charm of Bernal Heights.
The house that I've made a home for the past 17 years has spacious and light-filled rooms, views of the Bay, a well appointed eat-in kitchen (w/ dishwasher, Multi-Pure water filter, a VITA MIX, Excalibur dehydrator and many other fabulous appliances), an open hardwood foyer, and a big, comfortable living room. Out back is a little yard, sometimes blooming with life (though admittedly in need of some lovin'... gardener's welcome!). The neighbors are very friendly and the neighborhood is quiet and safe (for the city). Street parking is easy, right out front. If you have a bike, it can be parked in the garage. The house is perched atop a hill with beautiful views, the street is lined with blossoming trees, wisteria and bouganvalia. The birds sing to us every morning. This place is quite big by SF standards, embodies old SF charm and is in pretty good condition. Laundry is in the basement.
The available bedroom is on the 2nd floor, next to the full bath. The east-facing windows give tons of morning sunlight, and a view of the bay and hills. Our bedroom is across the hall, so we don't share a wall, which means that it's fairly quiet.
One major bonus of the house is our yoga room (fully stocked with lots of props, including an inversion sling and backbender), that I use for my own personal practice as well as for teaching private yoga sessions and childbirth education. My past housemates have also used it for their own personal yoga and meditation practices. Whomever lives here must be comfortable with me seeing clients at home about 4 -12 hours a week (usually weekday afternoons and 1-2 evenings per week).
All within walking distance are great restaurants (Moki's, Third Cousin, Bernal Star, Vega, Little Nepal...), bars (love the patio at the Wild Side West), coffeehouses (Moonlight Cafe, Martha's, Progressive Grounds), plus the wonderful Alemany Farmer's Market (only 2 blocks down the hill), Bernal Yoga and more. The Mission is only a 15 min. walk down the hill.
We're 2 minutes from 280 and 101, and parking is easy. We're also on the 67 (takes you to the 24th St. BART) and 24 Divisadero (straight shot to Noe Valley, Castro, the lower Haight...) bus lines.
You must LOVE dogs, because we have a 1.5 year old Portuguese Water Dog, Sunny. He's sweet and pretty well trained for being such a young guy, and will always be happy to accompany you on walks up the hill or to the beach. He doesn't shed, so he's fairly clean and "hypo-allergenic". We would love a housemate who is excited to live with and give love to my dog. Our landlords will not allow another dog, or any other pet. Sadly, this is not negotiable.
I am a 42 yr old woman working as a birth doula/ photographer/ yoga teacher/ birth educator who works from home part-time (clients are primarily pregnant women). My partner is a 51 year old man who works at Stanford University as a Video Director. We love to dance, hike, do yoga, make art, cook, go to the farmer's market, travel, meditate, attend plant medicine ceremonies and much more. Our home is a sanctuary for us, and hopefully for whomever lives with us. It is essential to us that we live with another who truly values health, clear communication and self awareness. We do our best to embody "green" practices in the home and prefer a housemate who will do the same.
We're looking for one housemate who is independent, health conscious, mature, respectful, responsible, and doesn't regularly work from home. Another yogi or person with some kind of "practice" would be nice, but not necessary. We are a shoe-free, cigarette smoke-free, and drama-free home! As for drug use, a little ganja is welcome, but any heavy drug use or loud drunken partying wouldn't be a match here. Sorry, no couples.
The house is fully furnished, besides the available bedroom.
Rent for your room is $1600 plus 1/3 of utilities (water, PGE, DSL, housecleaner). Move-in cost is first and last month's rent. We're hoping to find a housemate who can make a commitment from May 1 to November 1, with the possibility of staying longer.
