Good references and credit
The home:
-Amazing hardwood floors throughout the whole house. Bathrooms are tile.
-Very nicely updated eat in kitchen. Brand new side by side refrigerator with in door water and ice. Double sink, garbage disposal, dishwasher and microwave built in. There is an amazing peninsula where we spent the majority of our time.
-Nice size living room - we have a sectional couch, two chairs, and TV stand and that all fits. This includes a fireplace with mantel.
-There is a dining room with two sided fireplace looking into the living room. We used this space as a den instead since the kitchen had enough space for our dining table and chairs.
-Completely updated bathrooms. Guest has a tub and master has a stand-up shower.
-Full washer and dryer in the garage for home tenants use solo.
-2 car garage with tons of built in storage along one whole side of the garage
-White painted brick fireplace in the living room adds so much character to the home. (again two sided)
-Master bedroom has a walk-in closet, full bathroom with stand up shower, french doors to the patio and wood burning fireplace.
-All windows in beds and baths are new as of last year. Beautiful plantation shutters on all bedroom windows. The living room and kitchen windows were already updated but probably 5 years old - very nice still.
-Private, fully fenced in back yard with a huge patio. French doors to the patio from the master bedroom and the den/dining room, side door to the patio from the hallway. (Amazing lemon tree we wish we could take with us. Roses and raspberry plant as well). The whole house orients you to go outside which is where we spent a ton of time.
-The main living space of the house is easily separated from the bedroom/bathroom hallway. The bed/bath hallway has wainscoting along the whole corridor and is so pretty!
-The landlord is pet-friendly for a very reasonable addition to the security deposit.
-Security deposit is one month's rent - $4,500. Need first months rent and security deposit to secure the home.
Separate unit above garage -
-There is a 2 bed/1 ba apartment above the garage that is rented out separately. (This is currently vacant and available to rent as well in case you want to rent both for your live in nanny or for your mother-in-law $2,750 for the unit). Hard wood floors, laundry in unit, ceiling fans and fresh paint. The exterior door enters to the main foyer. The garage, home entrance, and apartment entrance are all through this foyer. You have zero adjoining walls to the upstairs tenant above the garage since that is located on the front of the house and once you enter your door you head towards the back of the property. We loved this but I am sure it would be a detractor for others. This allowed us to rent a "home" for much less than the market rate for a house and yet we felt completely separate. The driveway and garage are only for the home tenant. The front yard is for the apartment tenant. Which worked out great for us based on the layout of the front of the property. (other homes in the area are going for over $5,000-$5,500 so again this is why it's $4,500)
Location -
We really took advantage of the Woodside Plaza area (if you have young kids Maddox Park is amazing). If you have a dog it is an amazing street to be on. We are 5 houses down from Atherton which is a great place for walking at night and very little traffic. Very easy to access El Camino, Alameda de las Pulgas, 280 and 101. Commute to Stanford is 15 minutes. 25 mins to SFO. If you work at Stanford you can also bike the 5 miles through Atherton and Menlo Park to the bike bridge which is very easy.
Landlord -
One of the hardest parts of leaving this home is that we LOVE our landlord. She is super responsive, has worked with us on any issues that come up and even now when vacating the property before our lease is up is open to working with us to re-rent. She is a dream!! She let me know that she would prefer a smaller family to rent the home.
You can reach out to me at malissa@stanford.edu if you want to know more about the home or learn the address. Our landlord JUST got the news from us that we are moving onto campus so this is the first marketing about the rental opening. She will likely promote the property herself in the next week or so. We are open to showing the house and/or you viewing it with our landlord. Lorri Rhodes is our landlord and her information is lorriannerhodes@gmail.com or 650-465-2222. Feel free to reach out to her directly as well.
Thanks
Malissa
