He is a single dad due to the loss of his wife very recently, and he needs a live-in nanny. I think the best option for this family would be a local university student who needs housing who can also offer assistance in the mornings/evenings during the weekdays. It doesn't necessarily need to be a college student, of course, -- any loving, caring, responsible caretaker who is not encumbered with their own schedule on weeknights could be ideal as well. Main duties include getting the kids ready for school in the morning and then taking them to/from activities on some afternoons per week, helping with homework and light housekeeping. The Dad travels about 8 weekdays per month, so the nanny would need to have the flexibility to care for the kids overnight whenever the Dad is traveling.
