I'm a Stanford postdoc and I have a beautiful dinner table/desk and a chair in excellent condition. They were both bought new from Ikea and used only for a few months:

Melltorp Table (Ikea, white, Length: 49 1/4", Width: 29 1/2", Height: 29 1/8"): $30
Teodores Chair (Ikea, white), and a Justina chair pad: $10
