I'm a Stanford student who is looking for someone to sublet my apartment for the summer quarter. This person, who claimed to name Xinxu and from China, sent me emails saying that she was interested. She sent me a check of about $2500, and asked me to keep the first month rental, and wire the rest to a travel agency.
I did that last week, but she said she was not able to make the trip to the US. Thus, she asked me transfer the first month fee back to her claimed sponsor. I began to be suspicious, and searched her email address on google. I found out that she is a fraud! She has done this kind of crime on many students who are looking for subletting. I lost $1600 for that. I hope you guys keep an eye on this person. I have reported her to the police.
