About the Job
Be a crucial part of the Automatic (www.automatic.com) team by leading our marketing efforts. We take pride in creating thoughtful and meticulously-designed products that solve real problems in people’s lives. The Director/VP of Marketing will be instrumental in the process of telling our story and creating a trusted brand.
You’ll lead all aspects of marketing at Automatic. You’ll work closely with our product and business teams to hone and implement your marketing plans. This is a unique opportunity to work in a small, well-rounded team dedicated to creating great user experiences in a giant industry ripe for disruption. Your position as a Director or VP will be determined by your experience and accomplishments to date.
Lead the development of and implement marketing strategies and plans at Automatic across multiple channels and forms of media such as website, retail, press, social media etc. to drive sales, build customer awareness and create a trusted brand.
Own customer acquisition goals in direct and retail channels.
Work closely with the product team to help define product strategy driven by deep consumer insight and lead the creation of positioning strategies for the company.
Manage the production of all marketing collateral and material. This includes the main marketing website (site structure, graphics, interaction and copy), retail packaging, press releases, product release blog posts, etc.
Direct the work of designers and engineers (both in-house and freelance), industrial designers and the PR team to achieve the above goals.
Develop and implement a content marketing strategy which takes advantage of the rich insight about driving and car usage that Automatic has.
Monitor the effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts in a rigorous way.
Develop and manage brand integrity through the creation and enforcement of brand guidelines in all external facing channels.
Manage the company blog. This includes copy-editing posts and working with the data science team to turn data driven insights into engaging posts.
Grow following on social media and work with community management team to build a cadre of advocates and evangelists.
At least 8 years of marketing experience including leading marketing efforts and the responsibilities listed above and a track record of having successfully marketed consumer products.
An ability to be hands on. You will be building the marketing function at Automatic, so the ability to be an independent contributor is very important.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. An ability to communicate in a human tone.
Strong experience with both the creative and quantitative aspects of marketing.
Strong analytical skills to measure effectiveness of marketing efforts.
Demonstrable experience with online paid acquisition, preferably in the consumer electronics domain.
Proficient in social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
Demonstrable experience with content-driven marketing.
Experience working at a startup.
Nice to haves
Experience marketing a physical product.
Experience with evangelizing and marketing to developers.
Experience organizing events, hackathons etc.
