Job Summary

This US Based position provides a range of services to BioTeam consultants and its customers for the implementation of computer aided research solutions, bioinformatics, data analytics, database design, science gateways and usage of high performance computing environments for the purpose of enabling the scientific mission of our customers. This position works collaboratively with BioTeam consultants and customers to provide unbiased IT, bioinformatics, and organizational solutions that best fit customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Implements research computing infrastructure solutions
Participates in the planning, execution, and documentation of broad-scale assessments, implementations, and support in scientific environments
Assists BioTeam project managers to achieve on-time, on-budget performance and assists in the management of customer expectations
Assists in the identification of project changes and interventions to achieve project goals and objectives
Participates in BioTeam driven projects, such as proof of concept research projects, product development, and software projects

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of B.S. in a life sciences or computer sciences related field
1+ years of experience administering research computing environments (e.g., HPC, storage, system administration)
3+ years of experience in Linux & Windows system administration: RHEL/Centos, Ubuntu, Windows 20XX
1+ years of experience with virsh, lxc or other virtualization systems.
3+ years experience with hardware installation, system setup and configuration, and operating system updates, as well as software patches and system backups
2+ years of experience deploying and using monitoring software such as Nagios, Cacti, checkMK, splunk
Demonstrated experience in distributed resource management (DRM) systems in the context of HPC clusters (e.g. SGE, SLURM, PBS, Torque/Maui) a plus
1+ years experience with parallel or clustered high-volume storage systems like GPFS, Lustre, Ceph, OneFS (minimum of 100TB total storage volume, prefer 1+ PB) a plus
3+ years experience in layer 2 and layer 3 networking applicable to scientific environments
3+ years experience in switch, router, firewall operating systems a plus
1+ year experience with high-performance data transfer protocols a plus
3+ years experience in at least one of the following programming languages: C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, and Ruby a plus
Demonstrated abilities in shell scripting
Knowledge of DevOps automation systems such as Chef, Puppet, and Ansible would be a plus
Demonstrated experience working in data center environments
Demonstrated experience with datacenter engineering and management a big plus
Experience in Linux-based database administration (e.g., MySQL, PostGreSQL, Oracle)
Working knowledge of biological systems concepts and statistical analytics a plus
Experience with Cloud Development and operation would be a plus (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud Platform)
A willingness to acquire new skills, learn from others, multitask, and work on projects outside of immediate area of expertise
Works independently on multiple projects at once
Language Skills

This role demands excellent verbal and written skills with a demonstrated ability to navigate difficult political environments.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Linux administration certifications are a plus (i.e. – Red Hat Certified System Administrator or Engineer)
Network Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or others a plus
Additional Information:

Will be expected to travel between 25-50%, including day and overnight travel
Able to provide own working space and telecommunications connections (e.g. home office with telephone, high-speed internet with a secured network)
Has or is able to qualify for government or customer security clearance
Must be currently authorized to work in the US
