The Space

This vacation rental is offered exclusively to guests with foreign passports who want to enjoy their stay in an Indian home with western amenities.

I have 2 apartments for vacation rental in my recently renovated ancestral home in a very safe, convenient, and desirable area in South Kolkata near all. About 1200 sq. ft of space in the roof top is also available for rent to entertain up to 50 local guests with a temporary canopy made easily thru a local decorator [Extra charge].

Apartment 1: It is a fully furnished upscale 1350 sq ft apartment with 2 bathrooms & 1 kitchen.

(A) If the entire 2nd flr apartment is rented it will accommodate 10 overnight guests [including children].

Rent: $175 per night for the entire 2nd floor apartment with kitchen & 2 bathrooms.

Weekly rate would vary depending on the season & number of people. Please contact owner.

It has a brand new modular kitchen with granite breakfast counter & all appliances [dishwasher, large refrigerator, microwave, full sized electric wall oven, glass cook top, induction stove, blender, indoor grill, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, washer, etc. Cooking utensils, dishes, glassware, silverware - It is truly a home away from home.

(B) For $50 a couple or a single person could rent just 1 fully furnished [all mehagony furniture] bedroom with an attached bathroom and access to a shared balcony. A complimentary light breakfast will be provided. Access to kitchen, refrigerator & microwave could be allowed on a case by case basis.

Apartment 2:
It is on the rooftop of my home with low ceiling height [similar to basement room's height in USA]. It is a small, cozy, clean, airy no frill basic apartment. Ideal for back packers and budget travelers.

(A) Bedroom 1: one single bed, a table and a locked cabinet.

(B) Bedroom 2: One single bed and a locked cabinet.

(C) Bedroom 3: One double bed [can accommodate a couple]. Has a wash basin in the room and a small low height cane table & two chairs.

(D) One group or family could rent the entire 3rd floor apartment and use all three bed rooms & kitchen. Maximum number of heads for the 3rd floor apartment must not exceed 5 [including children]. If rented the entire 3rd floor apartment guests will have full access to the 3rd floor kitchen and bathroom. however, access to the roof will be complimentary & shared.

Kitchen: A shared kitchen with a gas stove, microwave, a small kitchen table & 2 chairs.

Bathroom: One newly tiled bathroom is available for the guests who rent any of these 3 rooms.

Beds: All beds have new comfortable mattresses. A locked cabinet is available in each room.

Rent:
Rent $28 per person per night For room (A) with a single bed:
Rent $28 per person per night For room (B) with a single bed:
Rent: $35 per night for a couple For room (C) with a double bed.

Rent $80 per night For the entire 3rd floor apartment (D) with maximum 5 persons including children.

Location: Our house is very centrally located. However, a 90' private passage separates my house from the main street. This in essence makes it more quiet and peaceful compared to other houses in the area and also provides private and ample parking space for a small car. The popular lake in south Kolkata, several malls, Gariahat, Kalighat temple, Rashbehari avenue, lake market, Lansdowne market, hazra road, Metro Rail all are within 15 minutes walk. Park street , Victoria memorial Hall, New Market, movie theatres, Kalighat temple, Academy of Fine Arts, Museum, Zoo, Rabibdra Sadan complex all are within $2 Taxi ride. Several fine restaurants are within walking distance while the Park Strret area has countless high end restaurants of almoots all cusines of the world.

Guest Access

If a group or family rents the entire 2nd floor apartment they will have access to the following:

(1) Master Bedroom with a king size mahogany bed with head and foot board and partial access to the matching locked wardrobe and full access to the smaller drawers to keep your clothes, full access to the beautiful mirrored dresser with drawers.

An attached bathroom with western style toilet, wash basin, and shower head. Unlike many houses in this area the shower head provides excellent water pressure thru a separately installed pressure pump, when turned on by the guests. The geyser takes about ten minutes to heat sufficient water for each bath.
There is a good sized balcony that can be accessed thru two bedrooms.

(2) Bedroom # 2 is a large airy bedroom w/4 windows and access to a medium sized balcony overlooking the front street. Four adults can sleep in this room. There are two single beds and underneath each bed there is one pull out single platform type low height box bed.
(3) The living room tastefully decorated with cane sofa, chairs and a sofa swing. There is also a wooden pull out bed that would provide sleeping for two adults and there is complete privacy as the door can be closed at night. This room has a wash basin on a granite counter.
(4) The family room is adjacent to the kitchen and has a wooden pull out bed that would provide sleeping for two adults and there is complete privacy as the door can be closed at night.
The 3rd floor apartment access would depend on how it is rented. In general guest occupying each room will have access to the shared kitchen and bathroom. However, isif the entire apartment is rented by a group of maximum 5 persons, guests will have full access to the kitchen and bathroom.

Interaction with Guests

We would try our best to make your stay enjoyable and help you with anything that our guests ask for. However, our interactions with the guests could be as much or as little as the guests prefer. We respect our guests' privacy.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is safe, clean and very convenient to go any place in Kolkata. people are very friendly. My parents lived here and we also spent many years in this house. Thus, our neighbors know us and they are always there to help if we need anything.

Getting Around

Taxis are usually available within 3-4 minutes walk. There are plenty of public buses that run to different directions. Bus stops are 5-8 minutes walk depending on which directions you want to go to. There is also trams that run from near Deshpriya park. You could pretty much walk to major shopping malls, stores, market, groceries, post office, several movie theatres etc.

Other Things to Note

We have western style kitchen with dishwasher, Reverse Osmosis water filtration system for drinking water [you may not want to buy bottled water, microwave, glass top cooking stove with high power exhaust range hood, large electric oven, refrigerator, washing machine, double sink.
Unlike other houses in the neighborhood, we have pressure pump that provide ample pressure to take shower and run dishwasher and other appliances. There is hot water heater that supply hot water thru the kitchen faucet.
We have dishes, glasses, silverware, serving spoons, pots/pans if you rent the entire second floor apartment.

WiFi is available. We can provide laptop and cell phone [extra fee].
