I am searching for a private room in a home where my fiancé will be welcome in 2018. I relocated to the Bay Area in October 2016 and work out of Stanford's School of Medicine providing employee wellness to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. My fiancé will finish an electrical engineering degree in December at the School of Mines in Colorado and has a background in supply chain logistics, physics, and IT support. Current moving dates are flexible; my current lease ends October 25th, but I am able to break the lease before that time.
More about a desired new living arrangement:
-Open, adaptable, communicative, good sense of humor, reliable type folks.
-Kindhearted, curious, helpful people are ideal.
-Would prefer friendly living arrangements where we communicate in person compared to peripheral, strangerly interactions or communication by e-mail/text only.
-Science? Arts? History? Grilling? Reading? RPGs? Points ball (sports)? Netflix and chill? Whatever they are, you have hobbies. Sharing what you know and do is fun.
-Perhaps you are pet friendly. We don't have any pets, but if there's a place that is pet friendly or YOU have a pet, we would be happy about that.
-You sleep at night, or are quiet at night. In other words, you're not blasting Lady Gaga at 2 a.m. and deciding that's a good time to also start a shelving project in the den (our hypothetical den, of course).
-Age and gender don't really matter to us. If it matters to you, we are in our 30s and we are a heterosexual couple.
[On the common list of laundry rules observed on CL:]
-Do you enjoy cooking and eating well, so much so that you actually use the kitchen? Cool, me too. I am happy to cook in batches to free up space for others, or communicate about nights we can swap cooking nights if necessary. I cook with curry infrequently, occasionally prepare seafood, and eat meat.
-Hopefully we can agree that a "heads up" is normal on visitors and overnight guests. If you want a specific person to be at the house a lot, we can talk about them moving in, right?
-Neither of us engage in drug use and our consumption of alcohol is minimal to moderate.
-Regarding cleaning, I prefer shared spaces to be generally organized and clean. I've lived with some people who prefer weekly cleaning and others who are fine with twice a month. I can adapt to whatever is on the cleaner side of average for the household. If it's a Friday or Saturday night, I might leave some pans out, but they're clean the next day.
[Desired location:] Somewhere on the CalTrain line within a mile or so. Close or close-ish to Stanford.

[The rundown on a typical day for me:]
My schedule varies, but I'm usually up around 5:30 a.m. and out the door by 6:50 a.m., and in for most evenings with a bed time between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m.. I'm at home most evenings, typically workout in the home, prep for the next day, etc. Prior to school, my fiancé's schedule was just like mine: a normal work day.
[Hobbies:]
I am usually chipping away at some kind of creative project and you might see art supplies in common areas on occasion if I need to spread out beyond my room. Should you have garden space or pets, I'm content to contribute to yard maintenance and help with general pet stuff. I also try to get out for a hike or nature excursion of some sort once a week. One of my current projects involves testing side business ideas - those fall on the interpersonal side of life and I might need the ability to work with individuals in the home from time to time.
My fiancé's main passions are rock climbing, motorcycles, being every dog's best friend, reading, and music. He's an extrovert characterized by typical engineering nerd logic and, essentially, the yang to my yin. I suppose it's worth mentioning that he's a huge dork for Diablo and Hearthstone, and, yes, he used to WoW a lot. He is helpful to have around when it comes to fixing things around the house and is also indispensable with car issues as well. I don't know how his move out here will go, but he'll have quite a bit of sound equipment in tow at some point...I shouldn't have written that he just likes music - he is an audiophile.
[Why I am looking housing and leaving my current dwelling:]
I believed I had found a stable living situation when my current living arrangement was solidified in October. My housemates recently shared that a fourth person in the home would be one person too many. It is in my nature to stay put for a while, so I am looking forward to putting some roots down at the next place.
