The Bubbaland Co-Op in Professorville, Palo Alto, is looking for a short-term housemate to sublet one of our rooms March 10th-30th! We are conveniently located near downtown Palo Alto (10-min walk to the Palo Alto Caltrain station, a 3-min bike ride to grocery stores, and a 10-min bike ride to Stanford’s main quad.)

We are a community of graduate students and young professionals (mid-20’s-30’s) who value sustainability and social justice, and strive to create a home that reflects these priorities. We have weekly house dinners, monthly house meetings, and bi-monthly weekend brunches/chore days.

As a household, we take turns cooking weekly house dinners (typically Thursday evenings), and we also have a “lunch share”, in which we cook packed lunches emphasizing local, organic ingredients for the other housemates each week. People with any dietary preferences are welcome to join our community, but we keep our group meals at least lacto-ovo vegetarian (they often are vegan).

We also value opportunities to build community both in and outside of the house. Our household has hosted potlucks, open mic nights, “ballot research parties” to research local issues before voting, Groupmuse chamber music concerts, D&D and board game nights, and movie nights in our basement home theater. Sometimes we will go off on a hike or out for a volunteering activity together. If you have ideas for group activities or programs you would like to run, we would be happy to support them!

The home itself consists of a five-bedroom apartment on the first floor, with in-unit washer/dryer that we share with our lovely upstairs neighbors. The shared space is large and open, and there are two bathrooms. (We practice “mellow yellow” to save water.) We have a backyard composting system, greywater collection for the washing machine, and a covered outdoor bike shed. There are several raised beds in the front yard for gardening, and a large patio that is great for social gatherings.

Rent for the 3-week duration of the sublet will be $700; utilities include high-speed internet, electricity, gas, and water, and often come to roughly $40/mo and will be prorated. The room is furnished.
