I almost fell for a scam. I posted a sofa for sale, and I got a message from a stanford email, asking me to message a North Carolina number. Strange, but ok.

The person asked for close-up photos, but did not negotiate the price. I offered my tv and mattress for sale. He didn't even ask for photos. No negotiation.

He told me that he was out of town for now, but his office will send me a check in the mail, and that he will send movers to pick up the furniture. This seems eerily similar to a scam posted on this board, where apparently the plan is that the person 'overpays' on a fake check and then asks us to pay back in some way. I didn't go that far because my spidey sense started tingling.

Some things that I found suspicious:
