$1,300
This is an advert for a month-to-month rental apartment share in a great location, especially for the Stanford campus, Caltrain and Downtown Access (College Avenue near Cal Ave Station, Palo Alto):
The apartment and your room
The apartment has two fairly large bedrooms, a shared bathroom (with bath plus shower), large shared living space, and a shared kitchen.
Your bedroom is the Master Bedroom with an additional private back-door entrance leading directly to your own car parking (I don't have a car so this car park will be all yours). Your room comes unfurnished, with the option to buy furniture from the previous roommate.
The remainder of the flat is fully furnished (dining table, couch etc). If you have your own furniture for these shared areas you're welcome to bring them. The kitchen has all the usual appliances (fridge, oven, electric hob, toaster, rice cooker, kettle, blender) which do their jobs admirably.
House mate
You would be sharing the apartment with me, Indraneel, I work at a start-up nearby. I moved to California about 6 months ago from the east coast. I'm pretty easy going - if you want to hang out sometimes and have beer / watch a film, whatever, then that's good by me - if you just want your own space, that's fine too.
Contract
The rent is very good for the area! If you decide to move in, you and I would sign a new contract together with the landlord so we would have shared responsibility for the apartment. We both pay $1300 a month. The nice thing is its a rolling monthly contract - so if you decide to move out for whatever reason, you just have to give one months notice.
Utilities (Gas, internet etc) are usually in the $60-80 range.
The landlord will require you to fill out an application form and will require 1/2 of the first month's rent and 1/2 of the last month's rent, plus a security deposit of $175.00.
Move-in date
The current housemate you would be replacing is planning to move out 31st January and your move in date would be February 1st.
Landlord requirements
The landlord has asked me to pass on the following requirements:
There's extra outside storage space if you happen to be hauling a bunch of stuff around with you.
Onsite washer and dryer.
Arranging a viewing
If you're interested, we could set up a virtual call. If you're free this week, it's a great time to do the call. If you can't make it then feel free to get in touch anyway and we can figure something else out.
Drop me a message letting me know roughly what times you would be available to come and see the place.
