$2,300
Hello all,
We are a handful of early 30's semi-professionals (mechanical engineers & techies) and we've got an impending vacancy on our 1.3 acre patch in the hills, available Feb 1st (flexible!).
We are:
me (eric), a mechanical engineer working on a medical device startup, recently out of a Stanford fellowship in med tech innovation. I'm into engines and just about anything with wheels, so figuratively/literally live in the garage. House is thus well equipped with tools for projects & house maintenance, etc. Other interests include vitamin D, spearfishing, & neuro-anything. Josh is a surface-to-air intelligence analyst for the air force; yes it's as cool as it sounds. Marcy is his light-duty canine companion; she defends our garden from the deer and is thus equally cool. Nikhil is a wicked mechanical engineer representing Tesla skunkworks (we think!?); he's a crafty fellow and cooks a mean curry.
We stumbled onto the house on CL 3 years ago, and have fallen in love with it and its owners, who are traveling & living around the world for a few years. The backyard is on the border of open space with walkable trail access down the hill. Mountain View is 10 minute down the road (El Monte or San Antonio), and you can be parked at Stanford in 20 (a single exit up 280). The master bedroom (~415 sqft) is pictured in the last few rows of photos, harbors it's own walk-through closet, recently renovated private bathroom and private entrance from the outdoor patio. All rooms are furnished including beds, desks, etc, but you'd of course be welcome to bring your kit and we'll throw the current stuff in the attic. The corner & center rooms share a bath, and there is an additional full bathroom around the corner. The house sits on 1.3 acres of literal forest and is equipped with a saltwater pool, infrared sauna, projector w/ sound, nest thermostat, yoga room, sub zero and handmade ceramic dishware made by the landlady. It has been a wonderful place to share with friends and call our home.
It's a sizable house on a large amount of land, and there is some upkeep involved. We're interested in folks who are wiling, able, and eager to contribute to a shared living environment in a glorious slice of the south bay. Your neighbors may include a local judge, the real life Richard Hendricks and another CEO or two (think graphics cards/bitcoin mining). Really though, your neighbors are deer, bobcats, turkeys and raptors. We are animal fanatics and you'd be welcome to bring a dog with you. The property has two feral cats (they're quite domesticated, purchased by the landlady years ago, so we keep feeding and loving them) but we do have an allergy- and toxoplasmosis-induced aversion to house cats (sorry!).
Rent for the master is 2300 plus utilities, billed as they come and split evenly. Ready for move-in February 1, or soon thereafter if desired.
Holler with questions and happy hunting!
