Price: $1,085
We are a small co-op located in a quiet and friendly neighborhood in Palo Alto, close to California avenue, looking for a new housemate. Commute to campus is ~10 min by bike. Rent is $1,085 per month plus utilities and internet. The room will be available from April 6th until end of March 2024.
The house has 3 bedrooms sharing one bathroom plus a semi-detached 4th room with its own bath (the remodeled garage), a kitchen and dining and living room area. It has a large front and backyard featuring a nice patio area shaded by a tree (nice for sitting and chilling, working or having a party with your friends), a fire ring, a storage shed and a bike shed, vegetable plots (we usually grow our own tomatoes), and the tallest palm tree in the area. It is currently also home to 4 pet chickens, who may sadly move soon. We’ve had other pets in the past too.
The room is ~120 sq ft with a walk-in closet and a window facing onto the patio. It shares a bathroom with the two other bedrooms in the house. It can be rented furnished.
About us: we are a Stanford History grad student and a Stanford History postdoc, who will be staying in the other bedrooms in the house and two Stanford researchers, who live in the remodeled garage with their twin toddlers (currently ~2 years old). Due to the semi-detached nature of the garage with its own entrance/bathroom, the kids shouldn’t be much of a burden (you won’t be able to hear them during the night/in the morning), but you will at times encounter them (and their stuff) in the common spaces (kitchen, yard, living room).
We all commit about an hour per week to chores around the house and garden (cleaning the kitchen, floors, bathroom, taking out trash and caring for the plants) and we share our groceries. Once a week, we have dinner together as a house to chat and catch up, taking turn cooking.
