Identify Biomarkers for Visual restoration strategies in Neurofibromatosis 1-Optic pathway gliomas.

Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg and the Stanford Department of Ophthalmology are looking to enroll 100 participants aged 8 and older with and without NF1 to participate in an imaging study. This study aims to see how vision loss is related to findings on different eye imaging devices that measure the nerves or the blood vessels of your eye. Participants will need to perform vison exams, be dilated, have multiple photos taken of the front and back of eye, its structures, and complete a survey. Travel and hotel accommodations will be covered by the study and $150 stipend per visit for participation will be provided.

The Details:
• You must be 8 or older to participate. The study is residents of the United States and Canada.
• All participants are required to submit a recent eye doctor note or eye exam to show refraction, if any.
• Participants with NF1 are required to submit an MRI of their brain With and Without contrast. The purpose is to confirm presence or absence of an optic pathway glioma (OPG), for cohort placement.
o Cohort 1: Optic Pathway Glioma (OPG) & Vision loss
o Cohort 2: Optic Pathway Glioma (OPG) & No Vision loss
o Cohort 3: No Optic Pathway Glioma & Normal vision
o Cohort 4: Healthy participants (No significant eye or health problems,)
