I’m selling my beloved 2004 Volvo V70. It’s around 160k miles. Now, I drive it fine around the bay area and routinely drive it between Berkeley, HMB, and San Jose, but it’s been accumulating some issues over the years and I generally try to avoid driving it for more than 3hrs straight. Still, I think this could be a great option for someone looking for a cheap car to drive around the bay area. I am not aware of any engine problems, or any issues that would actually interfere with driving or safety in most cases. But here is a long list of minor things that I just haven’t felt the need to sort out, and probably don’t recommend spending the time or energy on except for maybe the first two:
Otherwise, I think this is genuinely a great car and deal. I got it as a sophomore in the spring of 2019 and have had really great times with it. It’s spacious (you can fold down the rear seats and, if you’re shorter than 5’9, you can sleep in it – it was my primary housing for two lovely weeks that Summer), it’s comfortable, it’s objectively a good car (Volvo is a great make), and I personally think it looks really great (some of my friends (and my partner) disagree, but it’s a classic boxy Volvo look that some people really appreciate). If you want a car that will last you decades and will survive a road-trip to the east coast after graduation, this is probably not for you. But if you’re just looking for a car that will do the job and love you back for 95% of normal usage, I think this could be a great option.
I have done the timing belt + water pump replacement that you should do at around 120k miles, so no need to worry about that.
License plate was removed from the pictures with AI, so that's why it may look weird.
His name is Fjalar, after Karl’s horse in The Brothers Lionheart. I’ll give you a copy with the car.
