We're looking for a kind, warm, and engaging person to join a warm, welcoming home in Palo Alto as a live-in household assistant in a furnished cottage with a private garden.

This is a rare opportunity to live in a darling cottage unit surrounded by private gardens in a gorgeous neighborhood near Stanford.

How it works:
You pay $1,700/month in rent at the start of each month. In return, you're guaranteed a minimum of 10-15 hours of work per week at $25-30/hour — enough to make the rent affordable by month's end. This setup is designed for someone who wants a flexible, low-overhead lifestyle with a sense of purpose built in. Stanford students and educators are STRONGLY encouraged to apply.

About the home & host:
Our host is a warm, well-traveled couple in the Peninsula area seeking a thoughtful student to join their community-oriented home this summer. They are former English teachers and longtime world travelers who previously owned a pottery business. They are kind, intellectually curious, open-minded people who love conversation, gardening, music, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. They have hosted exchange students for many years and would especially enjoy someone who appreciates world affairs, travel, and cross-cultural connection.

The husband has lived with Parkinson’s disease for many years but is doing remarkably well and remains active and engaged. Their goal is simply to age gracefully in the home they love.
