Oklahoma State used a balanced attack against a quick Missouri State defense as the Cowboys defeated the Bears 73-70 in overtime to win the South Padre Island Invitational finals here Saturday afternoon. Mario Boggan led all scorers with 14 points and was named the tournament Most Valuable Player. The Big 12's second-leading scorer struggled from the field, connecting on just 4-of-14 shots from the floor, but did score four of the team's 11 points in overtime. The Cowboys (7-0) took an early six-point lead at 8-2 five minutes into the contest. The Bears tied it up five minutes later when Deven Mitchell scored two of his 11 points and make the score 12-12. Both teams went back and forth before OSU took a 25-24 lead into intermission. Oklahoma State led by four points with 1-1/2 minutes remaining in regulation, but a pair of free throws by Blake Ahearn cut the lead to two at 62-60.
