Oklahoma State senior defensive end Darnell Smith added another honor to his resum Thursday when the College Sports Information Directors of America announced he had been selected as an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American. Smith, a native of San Antonio, was named to the second team by CoSIDA. An economics major who will graduate in December, Smith carries a 3.58 overall grade point average. He is a four-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll eight times. Smith has also been on the OSU President's Honor Roll twice and on the Dean's Honor Roll five times, and he is a four-time OSU Academic Achievement Award winner. Smith has also excelled on the gridiron. In 11 games this season, he has racked up 24 tackles, including three for loss.
