A handful of protesters have launched a tree-sit to protest the planned removal of trees west of Memorial Stadium to make way for the new Student-Athlete High Performance Center. In designing the center, the life safety of students and staff was a paramount concern for campus officials, who sited the new building to retain as many mature oaks as possible, and vow to replant far more trees than will be removed.
