Oklahoma State's women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday night on the road at Arkansas State snapping an eight-game winning streak to open the 2006-07 campaign. The Cowgirls played their first true road game of the season and fell to 8-1 on the year, while Arkansas State improved to 6-4 on the season. The Indians are 4-1 at home with the only blemish being a six-point defeat to No. 10-ranked Purdue. The Cowgirls got the first basket of the game from Maria Cordero, and that was the only lead of the game for OSU. Arkansas State scored the next six points and never looked back. The Cowgirls trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half, and they were able to cut the deficit to two. OSU, however, could not overtake the Indians in the final minute. The closest the Cowgirls got during the first half was two points at 11-9.
