Oklahoma State junior midfielder Yolanda Odenyo was named the Central Region Player of the Year and co-head coaches Karen Hancock and Colin Carmichael were named Regional Coach of the Year by Soccer Buzz Magazine, it was announced last night. The Central Region is the largest region in the country representing 68 schools, including the entire Big 12 and part of the SEC. Odenyo led the Cowgirls with 18 points on the season by scoring five goals and assisting on eight others, while playing mostly a defensive midfield position. The Uppsala, Sweden native has filled her trophy case as she was named Big 12 Co-Player of the Year and named first team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The coaching duo of Karen Hancock and Colin Carmichael took the Cowgirls to the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in school history. OSU defeated UNC-Greensboro for its first ever tournament win and finished the season with a program best 17-3-3 record.
