The issue:
Parents, pediatricians, and even American icons like First Lady Michelle Obama are
focused on promoting healthy weight and activity in kids – mainly because childhood
obesity is becoming a huge epidemic in the United States, where 20% of children are
considered overweight or obese at age 11. If left untreated, childhood obesity can lead
to diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

What Stanford University is doing to help:
Researchers at Stanford University are recruiting parents to take part in a Childhood
Obesity Prevention study.

Step 1: A 1-Hour Assessment – earn $100
Step 2: 5 Parent Education Classes (1/week for 5 weeks) – earn $200

This is a study funded by the National Institutes of Health. As such, certain eligibility
criteria apply.
