Immediate openings for full- or part-time laboratory technicians in Dr. Jose Dinneny’s lab in the Department of Biology at Stanford University/Plant Biology at Carnegie Institution for Science. This is an opportunity to work in an outstanding academic environment and to gain experience working in biological sciences.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare chemical solutions used in the lab, such as bacterial and plant growth medias
• Maintain lab inventory, restocking and ordering as required
• Perform appropriate cleaning and discharging of waste reagents
• Grow plants and harvest seeds for research purposes (Arabidopsis, tobacco)
Qualifications:
• Strong academic record in Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under deadlines with general guidance
• Strong organizational skills and ability to keep lab/materials in order
• Experience growing and harvesting plants, preparing chemical solutions
• Familiarity with sterile technique and ability to prepare sterile growth medias/competent cells
