Hello Peninsula house hunters! We have a room for you!
-This spacious bathroom has 2 very large closets and a private bathroom. The exact date the room will be open is still being determined, but could be mid June - mid July. We have flexibility on timing, so if our house looks like a good fit, please reach out and we can see if we can work the details out.
The room is located in a spacious Palo Alto house with 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. We are currently a close group of community-oriented housemates in our mid 20s to early 30s who work in energy, health, academia, gaming, and technology. We pride ourselves on our welcoming house dinners (about once every other week for the house), house talks (give a presentation a la Ted-talk on anything you love, we'll listen), and sharing adventures both here and abroad.
Here's a little more about ourselves:
MB works in clean energy and enjoys trips to the computer history museum. His hobbies include exploring new cuisines, finding new cultural events in Palo Alto, sending real-talk emails, and winning wiffle ball championships. He's currently looking for a new squash partner.
J goes with MB. She is excited to be closer to Mitchell park for weekly silicon valley pickleball weekend games. She needs rice to survive and is using her business training to build her own. During covid / SIP - she's been a puzzle enthusiast!
M spends her days running analytics for a local research institute in the education space and her weekends cycling, bouldering, and hiking. Her bacon-wrapped chicken toppled the competition at this year's house progressive. She brings her Sri Lankan spice to everything in life, but watch out for her habanero infused seviche.
E thinks people should read more, but she's not pretentious. She is an expert in North Korea foreign policy and fights global threats in your news feed. Resident house TedTalk creator/enthusiast.
N goes with E and is always happy to see you. He dabbles full time in photoshop, designing his own video game. If you set it, he'll spike it in his weekly volleyball games. He also keeps it fun during house sand volleyball outings!
R is captivating and creative. You can find him practicing violin in the afternoons or using his extensive pop culture knowledge to win at Jeopardy. He brings a certain Southern California flair to the kitchen and enjoys making homemade pasta with N.
C is a graduate design student after giving up her dream of becoming a professional hang glider. She has planted broccoli, lettuce and radish in our backyard. Also lived in Mali so she is an expert in bambara (maybe). Her future work and location is still TBD, given her graduation in the next month.
Our house has a two car garage currently filled with bikes, skis, surfboards, and other adventure implements, a spacious backyard with a fire pit, wood deck and grill, the most amazing hosting kitchen / living room / dining room / great room combo on the Peninsula. We're also walking distance to a fancy grocery store, Rick's Ice Cream, and the one and only Great Clips (ok, there's more than one...). Costco is a 2 minute drive.
Please include in your message answers to the following question:
We will be interviewing roommates by video over the next 4-8 weeks then will figure out how to show you our house in person as the Shelter In Place Order evolves.
Security deposit is $1430 due on move in date (details provided during interview). Utilities and shared house supply costs shared among housemates ~$60-80/month. We share equally in house chores and all agree to keep the house clean and orderly. The room can be furnished for an additional $200 (low frame bed and foam mattress bought on April 2019 plus IKEA night stands, all with receipt).
