My 1996 Benz C-280 was recently in a small fender bender. Because she is a '96 over 100,000 miles (about 193,000), the insurance company declared her a total loss. As you can see, the cosmetic damage was minimal.
In terms of mechanical damage, the initial report is that the under-radiator cross support is bent and the A/C condenser is broken. I'm going to buy her back from insurance with salvage title. This car is a great machine and there is no need for her to be sidelined just because the insurance computers red flagged her for high mileage. A Benz is a obviously a great purchase and can easily run past 200,000 miles with some TLC. She is a smooth ride. The tires are about 1 year old. Of course, everything inside is power. I replaced the original radio/tape deck with a Pioneer receiver--CD, radio, and Mp3 (iPhone or iPad) hookup directly into the receiver. Leather seats, moon roof, old school car phone in the arm rest (if your cell phone just isn't cool enough for you).
If you're interested in buying the car from me and fixing her up, shoot me an email. One more thing--because I don't want to do the repairs, I'm now in the market for a used car. That being the case, I would also consider a trade or some other arrangement--just let me know what you're thinking.
Thanks for looking.
