Location: walking distance from Stanford Escondido Village
We are looking for a reliable, active, and organized part-time nanny & family assistant for our three girls (ages 7, 9, and 11) and our friendly Labrador, Sunny. We are a busy Australian family living in Palo Alto. We want someone who can act as a great role model/mentor and help keep our afternoons, evenings, and household running smoothly. On afternoon shifts, you will usually partner with Mum (Alicia) in our afternoon routine. On our evening shift, you will run the routine solo while we are out.
Rate: $40–$50/hour (depending on experience & payroll structure).
Guaranteed Income: We guarantee a minimum of 12 hours of pay each week, even if we need you less.
Travel Protection: We continue to pay your guaranteed hours when our family travels.
PTO & Sick Leave: 2 weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO) plus paid sick leave. Additional unpaid time-off may be arranged.
Weekly Schedule: 12 to 15 hours per week: 3 afternoons and 1 evening over 3 days. An example schedule is Mon/Tue 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM and Thu 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM. We are flexible on the exact days (e.g., Wed/Thu/Fri or Mon/Wed/Fri) and can accommodate a 3:00 PM start time. One shift must cover the evening routine (until approx 9:00 PM) so Mum & Dad can have a date night.
-- What You'll Do --
Pickups & Driving: Pick-up and drop-off the girls at local activities.
Afterschool Routine: Prep snacks, help get homework started, and keep the girls engaged.
Evening Routine (1 night/week): Feed the girls dinner, manage bedtime.
Tidy Up: Reset the kitchen in afternoon and after dinner (load the dishwasher, wipe down counters, put items away) and actively engage the girls in household chores (such as helping clear tables, putting away their own items, vacuuming).
Dog Care: Our friendly Labrador Sunny loves walks, brushing her coat, and occasional trips to the groomer or doggy daycare. You should be consistent with our dog training (basic commands and good habits).
Household Support: The girls are our priority, but during down times (like when they are occupied with activities), we look for proactive help with household support, such as:
Laundry: Washing, folding, and putting away family laundry, towels, and bed sheets.
Errands & Organization: Running local errands (such as returning packages or milk runs), re-stocking our pantry & fridge when grocery deliveries arrive, taking out garbage bins, and keeping the house reset to a clean state.
-- Who We're Looking For --
Experience working with school-aged kids or tweens (coaching, camp, or teaching backgrounds are great).
Confident, patient, and comfortable setting boundaries with a pre-teen (our 11-year-old daughter is independent and responds best to a collaborative coaching style).
Comfortable teaching responsibility and guiding children to help clean up after themselves rather than doing all the tidying for them.
A clean driving record is required. Having your own reliable car is a plus, but you are welcome to use our family car for driving.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred; non-smoker.
Please do not message this poster about other commercial services.
