Postdoctoral Positions in Regenerative Medicine at UCSF and Berkeley
We are currently seeking talented and hard-working postdoctoral research scholars to study the mechanism of function of beige fat-like fibro/adipogenic progenitor (FAP) stem cells in rotator cuff muscle after injury. The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) funded work is a collaboration between Drs. Feeley and Liu at UCSF/SFVA, and Prof. Healy’s lab at Berkeley. The Feeley/Liu lab (https://feeleylab.ucsf.edu/), within the UCSF Department of Orthopedic Surgery, works to understand how stem cells interact and differentiate during muscle regeneration. The Healy lab creates 4D growth factor sequestering hydrogels for matrix-assisted promyogenic fibro/adipogenic progenitor (FAP) stem cell transplantation therapy in treating rotator cuff tears.
One candidate should have hands-on experience with molecular biology (e.g., scRNAseq), tissue sectioning and histological analysis, muscle stem cell culture and differentiation assays, stem cell isolation and purification (FACS), and mouse rotator cuff surgery and functional analysis.
Another candidate should have experience with hydrogel synthesis and characterization, stem cell culture and in vitro testing, molecular biology, and stem cell transplantation.
Both candidates are expected to work together and across both universities. The positions offer growth opportunities by mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
The successful candidate should possess a Doctorate degree (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in an area directly related to the field of research specialization. We provide a collaborative, supportive environment that upholds the goals of promoting diverse and equitable scientific research.
