My roommate just moved out of our beloved bungalow in Palo Alto and I’m looking for someone to share the two-bedroom house with this upcoming year.
I’m a postdoc at Stanford. I bike to work in 5min each morning, and it’s such a joy that I don’t mind half my paycheck going to rent. The bungalow is charming as hell and you’d be hard pressed to find anything nearly as homey and chill in the area. Huge backyard with detached garage and coastal oak and garden and swing and grill and fire pit + quirky amazing neighbors in our little bungalow village. The place is a 1938 Spanish Colonial Revival-style bungalow, and architectural heritage tours come by in the summer just to look at it.
Off-street parking (outdoor in driveway), washer and dryer in the house, wifi. One AC/heating unit in the living room, but temperature is pretty much perfect for most of the year. Full kitchen, refrigerator, oven, stove. Working fireplace in the living room for the brief winter. No microwave (no room in kitchen to add one) and no TV (and definitely want to keep it that way).
Two bedrooms, each about 160 sq ft + closet. Good light and two big windows in each. The house will be furnished, although your bedroom will not be.
Attached are some photos. Not awesome shots of the bedroom since they show it with a lot already moved out, but you’ll get the gist.
If you’re new to the area, you may have already noticed that we have perhaps the most absurd housing market in the country. Rent is $1770 and utilities are $100 per person.
Currently available, with lease ending August 31 2020.
A little bit about me: 35, white cis-male. Work a lot during the week. Spend a lot of time in Santa Cruz surfing or with friends in Oakland on weekends. Travel a lot for work.
