Hello Peninsula house hunters! We have a room for you!
This upstairs bedroom in a quiet neighborhood is a great deal! The room is small-to-medium sized (~130 sq ft; with a ~20 sq ft raised platform -- see pictures) AND includes its own sheltered balcony! (I've put my work-from-home desk out here; and it's pretty wonderful). It is available from 8/28.
The room is located in a spacious Palo Alto house with 7 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. We are currently a close group of 7 community-oriented housemates in our mid 20s to early 30s who work in engineering, education, academia, and technology. We pride ourselves on our welcoming house dinners, badminton hangouts in the yard, and sharing adventures.
Here's a little more about ourselves:
M spends her days running analytics for a local research institute in the education space and her weekends cycling, bouldering, and hiking. Her bacon-wrapped chicken toppled the competition at this year's house progressive. She brings her Sri Lankan spice to everything in life, but watch out for her habanero infused ceviche.
R is captivating and creative. You can find him practicing violin in the afternoons or using his extensive pop culture knowledge to win at Jeopardy. He brings a certain Southern California flair to the kitchen and enjoys making homemade pasta.
CC is a graduate design student and backyard garden enthusiast. She's moving to Colorado for work; and she strongly recommends you keep the hummingbird feeder on the balcony.
A is an old pro at communal living, having just joined the house from a Berkeley co-op. She wrangles 5th-graders over Zoom by day and an active worm bin at night.
CR is an educational tech specialist, and is excited to explore the Bay Area after moving from Virginia. He's a games and puzzles enthusiast, and has definitely never betrayed anyone in an ill-fated Catan alliance.
L is a mechanical engineer at a Palo Alto startup who once camped out for 6 weeks to watch a Duke basketball game. Houseplants may tend to die in her presence, but music comes to life, especially classical piano and voice pieces.
I is an optical engineer for Lockheed Martin Space who moonlights as a photographer/videographer for music festivals, although during shelter-in-place you're more likely to find him reading, hiking or hammocking. He is also now currently looking for a new spikeball partner!
House environment : We have a no tobacco smoking and no firearms policy. Several housemates enjoy a glass of wine or a beer in the evening. LGBTQIA+ friendly.
Our house has a two car garage currently filled with bikes, skis, surfboards, and other adventure implements, a spacious backyard with a fire pit, wood deck and grill, a large kitchen with two fridges, and dining room with a massive table we love to fill. We're also walking distance to a fancy grocery store, Rick's Ice Cream, and the Mitchell Park library. Costco and In'n'Out are 2 minute drive; and there's a Trader Joe's, Grocery Outlet, Safeway(s) and Sprouts in a 10 minute circle. About 20 minutes to campus by bike.
