Description

To those of us who rely on the Caltrain to get to campus or navigate the Peninsula, that service is currently at risk! (https://www.caltrain.com/news/caltrain-outlines-potential-service-cuts-absent-new-funding-source)
Due to a projected $75 million annual deficit, Caltrain has warned of drastic service reductions starting in 2027 if new funding isn't secured. These "worst-case" cuts include:
• Reducing weekday trains to just once per hour.
• Eliminating all weekend service entirely.
• Closing more than one-third of all stations.
• Ending all service by 9:00 p.m.
To prevent this, a coalition of advocates is working to place the Connect Bay Area measure on the November 2026 ballot. This measure would provide a stable, long-term funding source for Caltrain, BART, and Muni through a small regional sales tax (Half a cent on every 100$ purchase).

Here's how you can help:
Because this is a citizen-led initiative, we need to collect 200,000 signatures by early June to qualify for the ballot.
I have the official petition with me and am typically on campus between 10am to 6pm. If you’re a registered voter in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, or Santa Clara County, please reach out to me and I can meet you on campus with the petition. Alternatively, there are signature gatherers at Caltrain stops in the evenings on some days - sign the petition with them.

Our commute (and our weekend freedom) depends on keeping these trains running!

Please do not message this poster about other commercial services.
