Hi everyone, I’m taking a chance by making this post because I honestly don’t know where else to turn, and a friend encouraged me to reach out to the Stanford community.
I’m an undergraduate international student at Stanford and a mom to a sweet, angelic, happy 8-month-old baby. ❤️ I’m a low-income sophomore stanford student, and since I’m international, I don’t have family in the U.S. who I can rely on for childcare or support.
I have a full scholarship, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be at Stanford. However, childcare has become the biggest barrier preventing me from being able to start my classes. It’s simply more than I can afford right now.
I’ve already gone through Financial Aid and explored all the options available to me through them, but unfortunately, I still have a significant childcare cost that I’m unable to cover.
I really don’t want to lose my scholarship or give up on my education because I cannot afford childcare. I’ve been trying to find a solution that is realistically sustainable for my situation, but I haven’t been able to find one yet.
I’m posting here in case anyone knows of additional resources, student-parent support, childcare subsidies, affordable daycare options, community organizations, emergency resources, babysitting/childcare programs, or anyone at Stanford who may be able to help me navigate this situation.
Even a contact, resource, recommendation, or connection to someone who has experience supporting student parents would mean so much to me.

I’m just trying to find a way to make school and motherhood work together without having to give up an opportunity I’ve worked so hard for. I’m doing everything I can to make this work for my baby and for our future. ❤️
