Back-End Senior Software Engineer

As a Back-End Software Engineer on the Development team at GoVyrl Inc, you’ll play a key role in the design, architecture, and creation of sophisticated back-end services and systems utilizing AWS to power front-facing client applications, data-driven pipelines, etc.

Technologies:

• Languages: Java (related JVM languages a plus), Python, SQL
• Relational Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL
• Other data stores: Elasticsearch, Redis, Memcached, Cassandra, Hazelcast
• Big Data Tech: Hadoop stack (Hive, MapReduce, HBase, HDFS, Zookeeper, etc) or cloud equivalents (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc),
• Apache Pipeline Tech: Kafka, Storm, Flink, Airflow, Samza, Spark
• CI/CD, devops and build tools: Maven, Gradle, Pip, Terraform

Qualifications:

• 4+ years experience in software engineering (focus on data engineering)
• Strong SQL and RDB skills
• Data pipelining and processing (batch and streaming pipelines, data warehousing, etc)
• Scalable distributed systems (coordination, synchronization, distributed computation, etc)
• Best practices for security in software engineering (SQL injection protection, authentication/authorization protocols, etc)
• Experience with various data access and manipulation formats (GraphQL, Avro, Parquet, JSON)

Optional desired experience:

• AWS Stack (Lambda, Kinesis, EC2, Glue, Athena, CodeStar)
• DBA for RDBMS
