Specialized Rockhopper, Vintage, 15-Speed, Red, 17.5-Inch/Small, 24” Wheels, Circa 1986
Good for riders 4'5" to 5’5” in height.
This is a vintage kids mountain bike set up as a “country bike.” It’s super comfortable and exceptionally practical. We’ve added a set of Nitto Dove Bars, a Specialized quill stem, and Rivendell’s Portuguese cork grips to give the rider an upright and relaxed riding position. The bike is perfect for getting to and from class or work with ease and comfort—as rugged as any mountain bike, and as comfortable as any cruiser.
It has all of the eyelets and brazeons for racks and fenders. We can toss in a rack, too. (It’s in storage and not pictured here)
The 15-speed drivetrain has enough gears to get up steep hills and cruise on the bike path. 24” wheels really make this bike feel stable and easy to ride. Since these are smaller than regular mountain bike wheels, you’ll find the bike accelerates quickly from takeoff. It’s zippy feel is great if you have lots of intersections and lights on your commute. It’s also a fantastic bike if you’re new to riding or just getting back on a bike after some time. Its size is also great for getting up onto the CalTrain or a set of stairs to an apartment, etc. This bike is a fantastic commuter/and grocery getter, and it's also fun to ride on longer trips, especially on dirt roads. The red paint is pretty classy, too.
New shifters, shift cables, and tires.
