Hi! We’re Dropship Dharma, a 10-year-old co-op in downtown Palo Alto, and we’re looking for someone new to move in! We strive to be a cooperative community that provides more than mere residential necessity, where the well-being of each individual and the group are prioritized. We do this by fostering a functional and aesthetic space for open dialogue, safe repose, good food, and abundant shenanigans, since 2012. There are 9 people, and most of us here are graduate students, postdocs, or tech working millennials our mid 20s and 30s, with a mix of guys and gals. We keep costs low by splitting professional cleaning service, internet, electricity, and groceries ($250-350/month). Food is central to our community and we share four vegetarian / vegan-friendly dinners per week.
The house was recently renovated with 2 full kitchens, 2 dishwashers, 2 washer/dryers, and a large back deck with a grill. The main floor and basement both have furnished common spaces; we also use the garage as a hangout spot for playing music (and storage, of course). The large back yard has a veggie & native plant garden, a hot tub!!, and 10 different fruit trees. The location of the house is very walkable. We’re located just a few blocks from the shops and restaurants on University Ave, the Palo Alto Caltrain station, and Johnson Park. Stanford’s campus is a ~20-minute walk, ~10-minute bike ride, and 10-minute drive.
We are looking for someone who vibes well, is a good communicator, and has co-op enthusiasm! LGBTQ+, BIPOC all welcome. We are looking for folks who can move in around December 1 (open to other earlier and later dates!) and who can commit to being here through June 30, 2025.
You'll want to live here if you: enjoy cooking; enjoy eating; need people to play board games with; want people to go on weekend adventures with; or just want more community in your life.
About the room: The bedroom is upstairs with two large windows. The room is filled with fresh air and sunlight through the day with the sun is still up. It has a large and small (not shown) dresser, a new full size bed with underbed storage, a night stand, an a large closet, a bookshelf, and a new sit-stand desk. It can come furnished (with a small, negotiable additional cost) or unfurnished, depending on the preferences of the incoming person.
