We are a group of Stanford alumni looking for some new housemates.
About the house: The house itself is a 6-bedroom, 4 bath in the Midtown area of Palo Alto. The house is about a 25-30 minute bike ride to Stanford campus, and can work well for a grad student or postdoc, we are also biking distance from Google, Downtown Palo Alto, San Antonio Shopping Center, and Caltrain. There is a large main kitchen, and a smaller kitchen in an attached inlaw unit. We also have a large living room area. We have a spacious backyard that includes a small vegetable garden, a few fruit trees, and a basketball hoop. Laundry machines in the garage. The house has all hardwood floors, and the property management company is responsive and helps us keep it in good repair, including gardening service. Street parking only. Our lease is strictly no pets, sorry.
Currently, the housemates are a mixed-gender group of 7 people, all are recent Stanford grads in our late 20s/early 30s, working in a variety of fields in the Bay Area. We are drug-free, non-smoking, some alcohol is ok but none of us actually drink that much. We are a group of gamers, and the house often serves as a venue for boardgames and tabletop RPGs on weekends. We generally cook as a group on weekends and individually during the week, and are experienced working with various dietary restrictions and food allergies. Chores are shared equally among housemates.
About the rooms:
Both rooms are unfurnished, but we have an extra twin-sized bed and mattress that can move into one of those rooms if desired. We prefer a single person in each room, neither is well-suited for a couple (though occasional overnight guests are acceptable).
Room 1 is larger, bathroom shared with male housemate, in the quieter back corner of the house. Has regular-sized closet. Includes sliding door to backyard. The person in the room next door is a light sleeper, and prefers a quieter housemate here. This room will be available for move-in early or mid December. Rent is $1400/month.
Room 2 is smaller, bathroom shared with female housemate. This one is an office/library-type space right off the living room, so sound isolation is not as good. It does not have a closet but does include several shelves built into the wall, you could also possibly use the closet under the stairs. This room will be available January 1, and rent is $1100/month.
Utilities are not included, but usually run in the area of $70/person/month.
