Seriously. As if finding housing for a Stanford graduate student/ postdoc is not stressful enough.
Why are almost 90% of the ads looking for a female? Including private units (cottage, studio etc). Is there a statistical evidence as to females being more quiet and less dangerous? Isn't this....sexism?
Why do some ads sound extremely angry? Below are some quotes that I literally copied and pasted from some of the housing ads, not some stuff I made up to seem funny:
"-ABSOLUTELY no cooking. Thanks."
"You MUST have a car. I have no time/energy to carry people to their workplaces."
"Strive for excellence. Push yourself physically and mentally. Motivate others. Lead events. Be yourself. Be honest. Believe in something. Live your legacy. Focus on what's important. " (What?)
I know many of us are very tired of looking for a place to live, so I just wanted to share what I think and create a little bit of optimism here! Good luck everyone!
