The Bible and Wonder brings together scholars of literature, philosophy, religion, and the visual arts to explore encounters with the extraordinary in biblical texts and their later interpretations. The two-day conference considers wonder across biblical narrative, Jewish thought, poetry, environmental thought, and painting.
About the Speaker
Leora F. Batnitzky is the Ronald O. Perelman Professor of Jewish Studies and Professor of Religion at Princeton University, where she also directs the Program in Judaic Studies. Her teaching and research address philosophy of religion, modern Jewish thought, hermeneutics, and contemporary legal and political theory. She is the author of Idolatry and Representation, Leo Strauss and Emmanuel Levinas, and How Judaism Became a Religion. Her current projects include a book on Ecclesiastes and studies of religious freedom, conversion, and Edith Stein.
