This presentation will examine the kinds of issues and conflicts that surround freedom of inquiry within the medical profession as well as academic freedom within medical and other schools within universities. Included will be an exploration of the influences that can inhibit physicians from speaking up in their teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical work. Time will be allotted to allow audience members to pose questions regarding how these issues are relevant within Stanford’s School of Medicine.
